Our Founding Story

ALED was born from the vision of Lawyers for Economic Development (LED), a pioneering organization established in Zimbabwe in 2022. What began as a national initiative to bridge the gap between legal expertise and economic transformation has evolved into a continental movement.

Under the leadership of Adv. Mellisa T. Dinha and with the patronage of H.E. Dr. Emmerson D. Mnangagwa, President of Zimbabwe, we recognized that Africa's economic future required a unified approach to legal and policy reform.

Today, ALED stands as a testament to the power of Pan-African collaboration, uniting legal minds across the continent to drive sustainable economic transformation through innovative policy solutions and strategic partnerships.
